Happy Friday, fellow enthusiasts!  Although it’s a misty, cloudy day here in Noblesville, Indiana, it’s not putting a damper on the excitement buzzing around the shop these days!  We have been keeping busy, yes, that is a fact.  But we’ve also got some exciting things in store…so be sure to stay tuned!  Plus, the month of May is always fun!  May includes our annual adventure to North Carolina for the Vintage, preparing for our annual Open House (Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 15th!), and celebrating Reggie’s birthday!   For more information on the caravan to NC, click here!

This week’s post will be short and sweet!  So let’s get down to business!  This 1992 brillantrot 325i cabrio came in with starting issues.  She had difficulty starting, needed 3 or 4 rounds of cranking, and seemed to be starved for fuel:

This alpinweiss beauty, a 2007 BMW X3 3.0i, came in for a drain and fill of the cooling system with Genuine BMW coolant, as well as an inspection:

Are you lookin’ at me?!  Ok, ok, so any type of accent doesn’t really register via internet, so I’ll just stick to the topic at hand!  This 2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works came in with excessive engine noise.  I had to ask what John Cooper Works was all about, which means higher performance yet than the Cooper S.  Cool!

It never fails.  Every time this pretty hennarot ’88 e30 M3 is at the shop, someone inquires if she’s for sale!  Can you blame them?!   She came in for new spark plugs, an oil change, a left rear tire with a slow leak, and to diagnose a minor “hop” at speed:

New rear brake pads and rotors, brake hoses, a brake fluid flush, and A/C belt tensioner were on the list for  this 1998 BMW 528i:

A bit more work was done on the 1969 Camara, namely replacement of whining rear gears in favor of a new 3.73 ring and pinion:

That’s a wrap!  But wait, there’s more!

Reggie took the 2002 for a spin…check it out (and subscribe to our youtube channel!)

Ok, now that’s a wrap!

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all Moms, and especially to ours!  We love you!

Happy April! We have had some fantastic weather this week…finally!  We’re crossing our fingers that it sticks around!  Remington and I visited the shop this week and had a fun time seeing all the bimmers as well as some cool demonstrations on some new products and services we’re offering now – more on this in a minute!  Here’s a little hint: more mpg’s!

First up, this 2004 BMW X5 came in for a new oil filter housing gasket as well as new belt tensioners and idler pulley:

A new valve cover gasket and new transmission fluid and filter were on the list for this titansilber metallic 2008 BMW 335i:

Reggie worked on a power sunroof conversion for this ’91 325i and installed a maplight mirror:

This stunning 2007 BMW 650i came in with a traction control light on.  After some diagnostics, it was determined that she needed a new SZL module, also known as a switch unit steering module.  The steering angle sensor had gone bad within the module, which contains several sensors.

Don’t you just love the barberot metallic paint?

And now for some exciting stuff!  Rick from BG came in to demonstrate a fuel service.  While the fuel service ran its course, Rick also gave us some insight into the chemistry of fuel and what additives are on the market and just how effective they really are…or aren’t.  We used Nick’s Saab for the demonstration.  Let’s take a look!

See all the black stuff around the inside of the throttle body?   The fuel service that’s about to be performed will eliminate that within 15 minutes:

Now that is a clean throttle body!  This fuel service will improve your mileage…and who wouldn’t want that?!  For more info and to schedule a fuel service for your beloved bimmer, just give Nick a call at 317.773.0074!

Rick also brought in some pizza for lunch!  Thank you, Rick!  We hope to have Rick come back soon for more demonstrations, so stay tuned for more information!

Just a friendly reminder about our next event here at Reggie’s Motorworks:

This tech session will focus on how to take the proper safety precautions when working on your prized BMW (or other vehicle…) at home. Reggie and ASE Master Certified technician, John, will instruct and discuss things such as:

  • Minimum safety equipment that you should have on hand
  • Working around air bags, air conditioning systems, coil springs, and various other vehicular systems that can potentially cause harm.
  • Specialty tools vs. improvised tools
  • How to properly use/handle power tools
  • The best practices for lifting and supporting BMW’s (modern and vintage)

Lunch will be provided by Hoosier BMW.  Please RSVP to reggie@reggiesmotorworks.com.

Back to bimmers!  More progress was made on the reassembly of the ’88 M3:

If you follow us on Facebook, you may have seen that we do a weekly parts quiz on Fridays.  Well, this next bit isn’t for the parts quiz, however, I think it may have been a good one!  Can you name this part?

Oh wait, that isn’t a BMW part…it’s the gizmo used to unlock a car!  The owner of this e36 had noticed some window noise on the passenger side, not to mention that the window would not go up or down.  Once the door panel was removed, that’s what was found!  Wow!  A coolant leak was also diagnosed on the 1995 BMW 325i cabrio.

We’ll be back next week with more!  Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

The shop has had another solid week, so let’s take a look at some of what’s been going on!

A new engine mount bracket, engine mounts, and transmission mounts were installed on this sweet little 1998 cosmo schwartz metallic M roadster:

We repaired a coolant leak and performed some diagnostics on the front suspension of this 2003 VW Passat GLS wagon:

This old 528e is a parts car.  Andrew pulled the transmission to ship off to a BMW shop in Richmond, VA!

This 2007 Mini Cooper S came a drop in engine performance, some timing chain noise, and an oil leak:

Seeing double?  No, you’re eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, we really do have two blue Mini Cooper S’s in at the same time!  Or as Reggie referred to them on Facebook, Blue Mini-palooza!  Ha!

Poor running condition brought this 2005 Mini Cooper S in to the shop.  She also had a traction control light on, and some interior components in need of repair.

Reggie has been reassembling the ’88 M3.  He started with the interior – be on the lookout for a video of the installation coming soon!  To get a first look at all of our videos, please check out our youtube channel and subscribe!

Next up, the exterior trim pieces and odds and ends!  Reggie prepped the rear bumper for installation:

Another thank you to Diamond Collision for the amazing paint!

This stuff is amazing for painting trim pieces!

Before installing the C-pillar trim, Reggie has to install the piece that goes across the top, which can be a challenge:

Once that’s in place, the C-pillar trim can be installed:

More window trim!

That’s all the time we’ve got for now.  Stay tuned for more next week!

Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!
