We’re enjoying a sunny day here at Reggie’s Motorworks!  It looks like Spring might finally be here…for now!  We’ve had a busy week.  Let’s take a look at what Reggie’s been up to, shall we?

1. Replaced timing belt, water pump, and power steering belt on 1986 528e.  Also serviced the transmission and installed alternator bushings.  See below for more detail on the alternator bushings.

2. A 325 got new engine and transmission mounts, guibo, center support bearing, and rear transmission seal. The exhaust got new gaskets and a strap before being remounted.

3. Work on the ‘91 Volvo 240SE – lowering springs, changing the wheels and adding new tires…goodbye, studded snow tires!

4. New project!  An e30 trailer!  Keep reading to see the photos!

Here’s the ‘86 528e.  What a great car!

These alternator bushings were well beyond their prime!  Reggie used a razor blade to remove the old bushing’s remnants.

Reggie tests the flexibility of one of the old bushings.  These brand new ones were just what this 528e ordered!

Reggie has been waiting to work on the Volvo, namely to put on these bright new springs and to change out the studded snow tires.

By the looks of this photo, and to my untrained eye, it appears that the new red spring is the same size as the old one…well, that’s because the old one is still compressed!

Reggie attaches the spring compressors so that he can take off the upper strut mount:

Now you can see the difference…we’re excited to put the Volvo back on the road to test these bad boys!

We’ll be sure to post photos soon to show the Before & After results of the new springs!

And for Reggie’s latest project…an e30 trailer!  Reggie and Jordan sliced up this car last Friday afternoon, which they were both pretty excited about! Check out the photo gallery here!  We’ve tossed around a few different ideas for the function of this trailer:

1. Track Tire Hauler

2. A grill – perfect for our Open House and social events!

3. A float in a Bimmer parade.  Ok, I just made this one up, but wouldn’t that be cool?

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday to you!  We’ve enjoyed sunshine the past few weeks, but today it has been foggy, cloudy, and rainy…which ties in with part of what we’ll be talking about below.  Nifty, eh?

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

1. 2003 BMW 525i gets a new power steering reservoir and serpentine belts

2. Polishing the headlights on the Volvo

3. Sending an old ‘85 325e and various parts to the scrapyard to be recycled

Last week, Reggie polished the headlights on the Volvo.  Each lens was a bit “foggy.”

Below, the driver’s side headlight has been polished, with a close-up of the results.  Click on the image to see a larger version!

The tools used for this quickie job:

Reggie works on the passenger side headlight.  You can see the haze being buffed away in the photo on the right:

This work made quite a difference!  Check out the Before and After:

The final results!  For some reason the passenger headlight is slightly yellow compared to the driver’s side, but you can still see that the haze is gone.

We hauled off this poor ol’ ‘85 325e today…

…filled with old parts to be recycled…in the interior, under the hood, and in the trunk!

Reggie even loaded up a truck bed full of doors and hoods:

Off to the scrapyard!

We still have some M5 parts available, so please inquire if there is something that you are looking for!

And the 1986 e28 535i is still for sale!  Get all of the details on our Cars For Sale page!

Have a great weekend!

It’s been a cold week here in the Midwest!  It’s Stephanie here, wishing you a Happy 2010!   We’ve got some “cool” icicles on our building, and here’s some proof that the sun does shine once in a while in this winter wonderland.

Reggie has been getting our newest shop wagon, the ‘91 240SE, up to snuff.  Here it is on the smaller lift:

This red machine called for a new set of plug wires…keep reading to see why!

_dsc3712

The inside portion had come out!  Not a good thing!

Old plug wires…New plug wires, what a huge difference!

New brakes, rotors and pads were installed all around.

Good spark plugs are a definitely a necessity!

A clean air filter was installed too!

These studded tires are just begging for a good snow fall, so they can be *ahem* properly tested for performance and drive-ability.  Ok, ok, so we did happen to find a snowy parking lot earlier this week on our way home from the shop, but further “testing” would be fun, I mean, useful.

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Winter Clearance Sale on Saturday, January 30th!  Get the details here!

Have a great weekend!
