As you know, last Saturday was our annual Open House event.  We always look forward to these events because it’s a fun way for us to show our appreciation for our wonderful customers.  Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love, which is keeping great cars on the road and keeping their owners happy and excited to drive them.  We couldn’t have been happier with the turn out of this event…the cars, the weather, the food, and the company were all amazing!  Thank you so much to all those who attended.  We hope that you had a great time!   Let’s take a look back at that sunny day, shall we?  To look at the full gallery, click here.   Jordan also got some great photos…take a look here!  We both got a little brave and ventured onto the roof…be sure to check out his view!  Thanks, Jordan!  And thank you for all of your hard work in getting us ready for this event!  Next week we’ll try to get back to our regularly scheduled programming here on the blog.  ;)

We were excited to share our new logo…especially these stickers!

Hello, alpinweiss section!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Sean’s cooking!  Bacon wrapped jalepenos, perfectly smoked pork, burgers, mac ‘n cheese, cole slaw…and grilled apple peanut butter crumble goodness for dessert!  And ice cream, of course!

It was pretty unanimous that everyone loved this M5…how could you not love it?!

Does this cabrio look familiar?  Takashi and Becca, so glad you guys could come!

Coming all the way from Bloomington, this beautiful cabrio won the coveted “Best of Show” award for the day!

The Roundel spins!

The “Work in Progress” award went to this bimmer!

We gave away some door prizes, including some of our new t-shirts and Reggie’s Motorworks gift certificates.  We also had a winner of an automobile photo session! We’ll be sure to post the photos from the winner’s photo session, so stay tuned!

Another popular car was this nice little yellow one…

Be sure to take a look at our full gallery for more!

And we also have some new t-shirts with our new logo, as well as our awesome older logo, in some bright colors! Thank you to John at Enthusiast Apparel!

Sean, we cannot thank you enough for your hard work and fabulous food!

Since I’m writing the blog today, I wanted to post this last picture of my hard-working, and rather handsome husband.  After everyone had gone home, we took a few minutes to relax and talk about what a great day we had.  Reggie works very hard and loves every minute of it.  I’m so proud of him and what he has accomplished.  He inspires me every day to do what I love to do, and for that I am so grateful and so darn lucky.  Reggie, you are the best, and I love you!

Now we’re off to the Cruise-In!  Have a great weekend!

The sun is shining here today at Reggie’s Motorworks, and we are so glad because tonight is our first official Cruise-In Friday!  We are excited about spending some time with fellow enthusiasts of all makes and models!  We are looking forward to a fun evening, and perhaps a friendly game of corn hole!  Click here for all of the details!

It’s been a busy week here in the shop:

1. Work on 2005 Mini Cooper: Replace front bumper and air deflector; replace fog light; replace front left fender liner, trim and clips; replace front body panel; replace 2 alloy wheels; overhaul left front suspension, including brake rotor, ball joint, strut, and control arm assembly; replace left drive axle shaft assembly; replace left steering tie rod, replace left rocker moulding, and a little paint work.

2. Reinforce subframe in 1991 318is.

3. Replace brake ducting in “Way Fast Whitey,” the 1987 325is track car.

Last week a 2005 Mini Cooper met a curb at a fair rate of speed. ( Here is the full gallery of photos.) Fortunately, no one was injured in this accident.  The passengers were all quite lucky.  In this photo, the wheel was removed as well as the front bumper so we could get a better look underneath.

Reggie and Jordan are also working on reinforcing the subframe in Jordan’s 1991 318is.  Jordan purchased a reinforcement kit from AKG Motorsport.

Here is the original subframe:

And close-ups of the engine mounts that are shot:

Here’s a view of the other side of the same areas:

Jordan’s car is up on the lift for this shot of the reinforced subframe that we provided.  Nice welding!

We hope that “Way Fast” will enjoy his new orange brake ducting!

That’s our week in a nutshell!  We hope you enjoy your weekend, and we hope to see you at tonight’s Reggie’s Motorworks Cruise-In!

A few quick updates on our 2002 project (you can find out more about our ‘02 by clicking on 2002, 2002 project, etc. in the ‘tags’ on our homepage):

This is the engine out of the 1973 2002 that we picked up in February 2009 in St. Louis.  Once it’s rebuilt, this engine will most likely be the heart of our 2002.   As it “stands”, the compression is bad in cylinder #2, which is most likely from a stuck valve in the cylinder head.

Nice, clean aluminum engine parts.

Reggie scrapes some grease and grime from the lower timing cover.

Before and After:  The upper timing cover has been cleaned and polished in both photos.

And, as you can see, both the upper and lower timing cover look pretty nice after some buffing with a brass wire wheel.

Reggie holds these newly brushed timing covers in front of the engine…yes, this is going to be nice!

And here we have the oil pan and timing chain.  This timing chain will be replaced before it makes its home in the ‘02.

This old beast is out of the 1971 2002, which, according to the casting numbers, came from a ‘69.  It’s a running motor and potentially for sale.

Looking for a stellar 7-series to add to your collection?

We’ve got the perfect one for you!  Click here!

If you would like to view this beauty in person, please call us at 317.804.9313.

Have a great weekend!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day for the Open House this past weekend!  Although it could have been a little cooler, we just cannot complain, especially since we had friendly people to talk to, shiny cars to stare at, and great food to share.  Many thanks to our chef, Sean!  He really went all out – burgers, brats, hotdogs, chicken legs, pinto beans, cornbread, and even grilled apple crisp with vanilla ice cream!   And we cannot forget to mention his soon to be world famous jalapenos, sliced, filled with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, and grilled to fiery perfection!   Are you hungry yet?  We would also like to thank Kipp and Jordan for their tremendous effort in making the shop look so fantastic and for their time spent preparing for this event.  Thanks to our friend, Nick, who was a huge help as well.  We really appreciate everyone’s help in making this such a fun and successful day!   And now for some photos!

The hornet makes its first official public debut as the subject of our mechanical challenge.

The challenge begins!

Sean uses a little friendly force to push past his competitor.

Russ raises his trophy high as the Winner of the mechanical challenge.  Congratulations, Russ!

Russ is the Winner!

To wind down from the mechanical challenge, we played a little game called Name That Part.  We pulled ten parts that we hoped were a little lesser known, such as a check panel relay, lock cellenoid for the gas lid, vibration dampener for 325e, and AC condenser, and a hood release for a convertible, to name a few.  Russ was our Winner for this contest too!

Name That Part!

Reggie drew numbers for raffle prize winners – lucky winners received Reggie’s Motorworks gift certificates, car detailing products, a framed engine photo, and exclusive event t-shirts made by Enthusiast Apparel.

Prizes

Our winner for Best in Show was Russ with his 1983 733il.  The award for Best Beater went to Evan for his 1987 325.

At the end of the day, we presented Sean with a small token of our appreciate for his hard work

in preparing and grilling the food for our event.  He received a framed photo of his convertible.

Thank you, Sean!

We would like to say thank you again to all of our customers, family, and friends who attended the Open House.  We truly appreciate your support and enthusiasm for these cars.  We’ll be planning another event for late summer/early fall…more details to come!

Full house

This week, Jordan has been dismantling the 1973 BMW 2002.

We’ve grown kind of attached to this car, but, alas, her parts will help our 1969 2002 get back on the road.

We hope to begin working on the 1969 2002 very soon!  We’re quite anxious to get her out on the road this summer.

*In last week’s post I mentioned that the floors had been installed in the hornet car…I was mistaken!  Perhaps I was willing them to be done just by writing about it!  They will be installed within the next week or so.  More updates on the hornet car soon!

Happy Friday, Everyone!  This has been a busy week here at Reggie’s Motorworks!  Whew!

We are proud to announce that we worked on our first 12-cylinder 750il this week.  Talk about a luxury vehicle with all the accoutrements possible and then some, well, to me, anyway.  I’m Stephanie, and I’m happy to admit I was a fan of this car.  I’m officially adding built-in window shades and proximity sensors to my future dream bimmer wish list!  Oh yes!

In other news, the race car is speeding down the fast lane and still getting ready to hit the pavement at Mount Lawn.  Floors are now intact, which is indeed a very good thing.  Fred Flinstone would even appreciate this.  And so would his wife, Wilma!   We’ll get some more pictures posted soon on this soon-to-be fast and furious ride.

Clean as a whistle

Ready for the Open House

In addition to all of this, we have been cleaning and preparing for our annual Open House tomorrow.  The event starts at 11am and goes until 4pm.  We’ll have food, games, contests, door prizes, and a cornhole tournament.  Just our way of saying how much we appreciate our customers!  Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!  If you’re somewhere on the other side of the globe, we’ll be sure to document the event and post some photos next week.  Reggie made some trophies, and you’ll definitely want to see them!
