A Look at The Vintage 2012

Happy Friday!  After a warm, sunny week, clouds and cooler temperatures have rolled in, perhaps a brief reprieve from summer weather that’s bound to come!  Speaking of weather, tonight’s Cruise-In will be weather-permitting.  It’s been a short, busy week with the holiday on Monday.  We’ve made progress on the 1969 Camaro project, worked on several bimmers, and have some images from our road trip to North Carolina.
Let’s get started with the Camaro!  This week, the drive shaft and carburetor were installed, as well as new hoses and other odds and ends.  She’s coming right along!

Last Thursday, we set out on the open road bound for Winston Salem, North Carolina for The Vintage.  The weather was absolutely perfect the entire time!  Not a single drop of rain around, not even after all the bimmers in the parking lot had been washed, shined, and detailed!  As always, we enjoyed meeting new enthusiasts and catching up with those that we’ve met over the past few years.  Here are just a few images, with a slideshow below.  More to come for next week!   Sit back, grab a favorite beverage, and enjoy some vintage bimmer eye candy!  We’re already looking forward to next year!

Friday morning started with access to a local drag strip!  Watching vintage bimmers race each other down the strip was pretty cool!  Timing included!  Below, Reggie was paired up with a Sprinter.  At first glance at his time-slip, he thought he had taken second place…however, when looking at it again later, he had, in fact, beat the Sprinter!  Yay!

After some fun at the dragstrip, we set off for Der Vintage Rallye.  Reggie drove the Baur, while I navigated us through the route.  The rallye ended at one of the many local vineyards for lunch and socializing.  The rest of the day consisted of relaxing and hanging out in the parking lot of the hotel and washing cars.

We got an early start on Saturday and wound up with a great parking spot for the main event!  Reggie put on the 2012 sticker, and we were official!

Sunday we left Winston Salem to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Destination: Asheville, NC!   We didn’t make as many stops as we did the first time we traveled along “America’s Favorite Drive”.

We’ll have more photos from our trip for you next week!  Here’s a quick slideshow with a few more:

Lola asked to make another appearance on the blog, so I happily obliged!  😉  She has been meeting so many new friends, and has even been so brave as to take a few steps out into the big, open shop…however, any bit of noise sends her running and drifting back into the office!  After all, she values her strict daily napping regimen.

Just a reminder that our Open House is just a few weekends away!  Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 16th!

Have a wonderful weekend!
