Blue skies, beautiful cars, friendly faces…we couldn’t ask for more here in Winston Salem, NC! This is our 6th year of attendance at one of our absolute favorite car events! Despite a flat tire in downtown Charleston, WV yesterday afternoon, the drive was about as smooth and relaxing as it could have been. And we’ve found a great local BMW shop to help us out with a new tire to get us home (in addition to our spare, of course). Thank you to Motorsport Connections for your friendly and efficient service! We truly appreciate it!
Reggie just celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, and so this trip is just an extension of the celebration! In light of that, I’ll keep this post short and sweet, Southern style, so as to get back to the festivities!
This morning, I got up early to take some photographs around the charming and historic hotel that we’re staying in. It was just what I needed to get my creative juices kickin’ for the weekend!
Then we hit the road for Der Vintage Rallye, a fun and spirited drive through the countryside, which led us to Sanders Ridge Winery for lunch. We overheard the owner of the winery say that all of the wood used to build this winery was milled directly from this land, which had been in his family for generations.
After lunch, Reggie and I delivered our flat tire and wheel for new rubber at Motorsport Connections before returning to our hotel. I took a few photos in the parking lot of the main hotel, where cars are being washed and prepped for the show. People are mingling and checking out the latest work done to friends’ bimmers. Such a fun time! And did I mention that we have incredible weather? Speaking of that, I’m going to get back outside, but not until I share a few more photos! If you follow our Facebook page, you will also see updates on our time here at The Vintage!
I’ve made a new little furry friend on our travels! Meet Sally the cat! She makes her home at our hotel, the Brookstown Inn, and loves all the attention she gets from guests. As I was walking back to our room, I noticed she was soaking up some sunshine, and being told that she likes the camera, I asked if I could take her portrait. She politely obliged, even though she seemed to want a little cat nap more than anything else! I think I’m particularly fond of her because she looks so much like our kitty Lola!
That’s all for now! Enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday weekend! Our shop will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25th. Thank you to all who have served and fought for our great nation.
